The 2017 Fishing Season is Upon Us!

January 27, 2017
Ahhhh, gotta love this time of year. The boats all received a makeover, the tackle is restocked, the captains have had their RNR and the focus is on scouting new areas and preparing for March aka spring break madness!

This week we found the redfish and sheepshead bite inshore remains strong. The weather has been unseasonably warm and the water temps are much higher than years past. The nearshore bite has also been great. The Blackfin Tuna were thick in close last week and the bigger Amberjack aren't far off the beach. It won't be long until the spanish mackerel show up to kick off the season for us. We will see a large migration of these small, tasty mackerel in March. Cobia and Kings usually are not far behind with the main Cobia migration beginning late March/Early April.

Y'all get ready for an amazing season! We have made some huge improvements to the boats including an all custom Cobia tower on Home Grown, new lights, rigging and gelcoat on Home Grown, new upholstery on In-To-Wishin, new GPS on In-To-Wishin and more.

Kings, Bonita and Mahi

August 14, 2016
The title says it all! The past several weeks have been great fishing for these pelagic fish. I can't recall another season where the kings and bonitos have been so thick. Most days, the bonitos can be seen on the surface but the thousands feeding on glass minnows. It literally looks like an acre of pure whitewater in the middle of the gulf. Mani have started firing up too. Not much size them but there is no size limit here in the Gulf. We have been site casting artificial and landing anywher...

July 2016..its getting HOT, HOT HOT

July 5, 2016
King Mackerel, Snapper, Amberjack, Triggerfish, Vermillion Snapper, Sharks, Grouper, Spanish Mackerel, Red Drum,

Mahi...Its all GOOD in July. The fishing has been REALLY great lately. Although, beginning on July 10th, there will not be

much in season (to bring home), there is always room for CATCHING. Everybody has been getting their fill of top-water

artificial jacks, jigging for snapper, jacks and scamp as well as slow trolling for kings. Everyday has been different and lots

of fun! Peak se...

Summer 2016 - Destin Fishing Charter Report

June 6, 2016
Well summer has arrived and the fish have been HUNGRY! Here is a list of what has been HOT:

King Mackerel - GREAT. Best method has been flat lining live baits 30-40 feet from boat while drifting or while bottom fishing.

Mangrove Snapper - GREAT. We have been seeing record amounts of Mangroves this year and are averaging double digit numbers on 6 hour or more trips.

Red Snapper - GOOD. Although the number are down from last year, we believe they are still offshore. We are averaging 6-8 red snappe...

Spring is on FIRE!

April 2, 2016
Sheepshead, Redfish, Amberjack and Triggerfish have been plentiful lately. The water is warming up and we caught our first king of the year last week. Live bait has also moved in around the pass. This is the time of year to get out there and enjoy the warm weather when its not too hot and hone your skills before summer. Cobia have also showed up which marks the beginning of our Pelagic season. It won't be long before Mahi, Wahoo and others are here in our warm Gulf waters. If you want to go h...

January 2016

January 14, 2016
Triggerfish and Jacks are on FIRE! Jacks are in close and piles of triggerfish can be found on the inshore rocks. Talk about some fine eating! Got our limit every day this week and from the looks of things they aren't slowing dow any time soon. Our by-catch lately has been big red snapper and scamp grouper.

Also, live bait is still around in areas. Sparse but still here nonetheless.

If your looking for a hook and cook, now is the time to do it! We were the only boat there the last few days and...

Fall 2015

November 25, 2015
Fishing remains strong with the warm start to our Fall this year. Water temps are in the low 70's still and the pelagic species are still here.
Also, the bay fishing is heating up. Flounder are trickling in and can be found on the leeward side of the inshore wrecks. We have also been catching them in the bay and harbor with short leaders and live bull minnows. Amberjack have moved in close and catching them on artificial has been the best way to target them. They are eating just about anythin...

April 2015

April 29, 2015
April is one of my favorite months to fish this area. The water seems to come alive and you can catch just about everything from sheepshead and redfish to Cobia and Kings. We have been doing a whole lot of CATCHING lately. I wish every month was as prolific as April.

I wanted to focus this report on king fishing because it is a popular fish in this area and I feel there are many misconceptions when it comes to "king trolling." This report is region specific as fishing for kings is diff...

Spring has sprung!

March 24, 2015
What an awesome couple weeks it has been! We have been catching sheepshead and red fish daily in the bay and caught our first pompano today. The weather has cooperated and we have seen temps in the low 80's on a couple days. The bite has been strong both inshore and offshore. Getting our trip limit of Amberjack offshore has been doable each day this past week on our 6 plus hour trips. They are thick and we are seeing bigger fish in closer (30-38 inch fish.) The bait has also moved in closer. ...

Its Heating Up!!

March 5, 2015
Its heating up!

We have noticed a noticeable change in the inshore scene lately. Spanish Mackerel are starting to migrate into the harbor which is always a great sign that warmer water is just around the corner. They are slim pickens and skittish but will eat a spoon presented in the right manner - not much size yet either but great to see them. We have not caught any on trees yet but it is just a matter of time. Sheepshead are here but finicky in the clean incoming tide water. They ar...
