Sooooo...it would appear that ole man winter has left us (finally!!!) We had some down right cold days here in Destin this year! I dont think I have ever worn 4 layers plus duck bibs to go snapper fishing in Febuary...ever! With that said, the weather is turning beautiful down here the past week or so. The water is still chilly but it won't be long before that starts getting warmer as well. March is upon us and the phone has been ringing more and more. We went out about 5 miles the other day scouting around some of the inshore wrecks. We found snapper (of course) and some legal Amberjack in 60 foot of water. We also boated a nice redfish out deep. The water clarity is really good especially on the days its not blowing. The sheepshead bite has also been pretty good around the rocks and jetties as well as the occasional bull redfish. The water in the harbor is very cold still making bait almost impossible to come by. I checked my trap today and to my surprise found 5 pinfish caught - a good sign of temps rising. Usually, I can have 100 or more caught in a matter of hours in the summer. So I figured I would give y'all a quick update on what's been going on before things get too busy for me to type. As always, give us a call if you have any questions about Destin charter fishing or if you would like to book a deep sea or bay fishing trip with Gulf-Angler Charters here in the panhandle. tight lines, Capt.
