The 2017 Fishing Season is Upon Us!

Posted by Preston Muller on Friday, January 27, 2017,
Ahhhh, gotta love this time of year. The boats all received a makeover, the tackle is restocked, the captains have had their RNR and the focus is on scouting new areas and preparing for March aka spring break madness!

This week we found the redfish and sheepshead bite inshore remains strong. The weather has been unseasonably warm and the water temps are much higher than years past. The nearshore bite has also been great. The Blackfin Tuna were thick in close last week and the bigger Amberjack...

Kings, Bonita and Mahi

Posted by Preston Muller on Sunday, August 14, 2016,
The title says it all! The past several weeks have been great fishing for these pelagic fish. I can't recall another season where the kings and bonitos have been so thick. Most days, the bonitos can be seen on the surface but the thousands feeding on glass minnows. It literally looks like an acre of pure whitewater in the middle of the gulf. Mani have started firing up too. Not much size them but there is no size limit here in the Gulf. We have been site casting artificial and landing anywher...

King Mackerel, Snapper, Amberjack, Triggerfish, Vermillion Snapper, Sharks, Grouper, Spanish Mackerel, Red Drum,

Mahi...Its all GOOD in July. The fishing has been REALLY great lately. Although, beginning on July 10th, there will not be

much in season (to bring home), there is always room for CATCHING. Everybody has been getting their fill of top-water

artificial jacks, jigging for snapper, jacks and scamp as well as slow trolling for kings. Everyday has been different and lots

of fun! Peak se...

Summer 2016 - Destin Fishing Charter Report

Posted by Preston Muller on Monday, June 6, 2016,
Well summer has arrived and the fish have been HUNGRY! Here is a list of what has been HOT:

King Mackerel - GREAT. Best method has been flat lining live baits 30-40 feet from boat while drifting or while bottom fishing.

Mangrove Snapper - GREAT. We have been seeing record amounts of Mangroves this year and are averaging double digit numbers on 6 hour or more trips.

Red Snapper - GOOD. Although the number are down from last year, we believe they are still offshore. We are averaging 6-8 red snappe...

April 2015

Posted by Preston Muller on Wednesday, April 29, 2015,
April is one of my favorite months to fish this area. The water seems to come alive and you can catch just about everything from sheepshead and redfish to Cobia and Kings. We have been doing a whole lot of CATCHING lately. I wish every month was as prolific as April.

I wanted to focus this report on king fishing because it is a popular fish in this area and I feel there are many misconceptions when it comes to "king trolling." This report is region specific as fishing for kings is diff...

January 12th 2015

Posted by Preston Muller on Tuesday, January 13, 2015,
Gulf and near-shore fishing has been great lately especially if you can catch a day with a North wind. Big schools of Redfish are stacked off the bars East from the Destin pass. You can have all the fun you want using fluke style swim baits on jig heads. Live bait will also work but its a lot more fun on artificial!

Amberjack have been my go to lately. They are just too easy to target this time of year. We have still been using the butterfly jig method and it seems to be working the b...

1-29-12 Night Fishing

Posted by Preston Muller on Monday, January 30, 2012,
Dave, Marshall and I set out at 5pm for some night fishing in the Bay. There was a falling tide all evening so naturally the bite was on. Immediately, Marshal was locked in to a nice fish but it broke off boat-side before we could catch a glimpse. Next it was me who got hooked up. The battle was on with my light tackle outfit. The fish made several fast breaks toward deeper water, taking line with him. I fought him for 3 or 4 minutes on my Tierra until I finally had him in the boat.A nice  28...
