The 2017 Fishing Season is Upon Us!

Posted by Preston Muller on Friday, January 27, 2017,
Ahhhh, gotta love this time of year. The boats all received a makeover, the tackle is restocked, the captains have had their RNR and the focus is on scouting new areas and preparing for March aka spring break madness!

This week we found the redfish and sheepshead bite inshore remains strong. The weather has been unseasonably warm and the water temps are much higher than years past. The nearshore bite has also been great. The Blackfin Tuna were thick in close last week and the bigger Amberjack...

Kings, Bonita and Mahi

Posted by Preston Muller on Sunday, August 14, 2016,
The title says it all! The past several weeks have been great fishing for these pelagic fish. I can't recall another season where the kings and bonitos have been so thick. Most days, the bonitos can be seen on the surface but the thousands feeding on glass minnows. It literally looks like an acre of pure whitewater in the middle of the gulf. Mani have started firing up too. Not much size them but there is no size limit here in the Gulf. We have been site casting artificial and landing anywher...

Summer 2016 - Destin Fishing Charter Report

Posted by Preston Muller on Monday, June 6, 2016,
Well summer has arrived and the fish have been HUNGRY! Here is a list of what has been HOT:

King Mackerel - GREAT. Best method has been flat lining live baits 30-40 feet from boat while drifting or while bottom fishing.

Mangrove Snapper - GREAT. We have been seeing record amounts of Mangroves this year and are averaging double digit numbers on 6 hour or more trips.

Red Snapper - GOOD. Although the number are down from last year, we believe they are still offshore. We are averaging 6-8 red snappe...

Spring is on FIRE!

Posted by Preston Muller on Saturday, April 2, 2016,
Sheepshead, Redfish, Amberjack and Triggerfish have been plentiful lately. The water is warming up and we caught our first king of the year last week. Live bait has also moved in around the pass. This is the time of year to get out there and enjoy the warm weather when its not too hot and hone your skills before summer. Cobia have also showed up which marks the beginning of our Pelagic season. It won't be long before Mahi, Wahoo and others are here in our warm Gulf waters. If you want to go h...

Fall 2015

Posted by Preston Muller on Wednesday, November 25, 2015,
Fishing remains strong with the warm start to our Fall this year. Water temps are in the low 70's still and the pelagic species are still here.
Also, the bay fishing is heating up. Flounder are trickling in and can be found on the leeward side of the inshore wrecks. We have also been catching them in the bay and harbor with short leaders and live bull minnows. Amberjack have moved in close and catching them on artificial has been the best way to target them. They are eating just about anythin...

Tons of Action!!! Feb. 13th, 2015

Posted by Preston Muller on Saturday, February 14, 2015,
Are you looking to for a Destin Bay Fishing Charter? How about a Destin Deep Sea Charter? Check out our bi weekly reports and out Facebook for the where, when and how-to of Destin fishing!

Amberjack once again have been our go to the past week. After last weeks neap tide, they have become less finicky and will eat just about anything. I found that the best jig lately has been the "Shimano Butterfly Whirlijig" - it is a little wider than most jigs and has a bigger overall profile. It also b...

Welcome Winter Guests!

Posted by Preston Muller on Saturday, November 10, 2012,
A lot of misconceptions here on the Gulf is that once Summer is over, the fishing is too; when in actuality, its just the opposite. The fishery in Destin receives relentless pressure during the summer months and as a result, your "go to honey hole" in the Spring may not be as productive in the Summer due to many fishermen with the same idea. So, when the Summer pressure has lifted, the fish seem to become more and more hungry and those "honey holes' start producing more and more quality fish!...
